Full-Page Ad in Today’s “Boston Herald”: Stop Threats to Jewish Students at Tufts!
APT demands action from Tufts University against anti-Semitic student
Americans for Peace and Tolerance today published a full-page open letter to Anthony Monaco, president of Tufts University, demanding that he expel a student who threatened Jews and Jewish students, and to initiate programs to address institutional bias and insensitivity toward Jews.
The student in question has a profile on the Canary Mission’s anti-Semite database which documents all of his hateful exploits.
He reportedly reportedly tweeted, “LEMME F**K THIS YAHOOD [Jewish] B**CHES UP YO.” In another violent tweet, Mr. Elayan threatens, “I will f**kin cremate you Jewish b**ch.”
He reportedly blames all problems on Jews: “Everything bad that happens I blame it on the yahood [Jews] lmao, traffic damn yahood [Jews], failed my test piece of sh*t yahood [Jews], its raining f**kin yahood [Jews].”
He appears to post general Jew-hatred, such as, “Can’t stand the yahood [Jews] here” and “You stupid yahood [Jew] you’re like a h.s. teacher get out of my face,” as well as maniacal fantasies of hurting Jews, such as, “Tb to my plan of running around Jerusalem with scissors to cut the Jews’ sideburn curls of… Their hair bothers me so much.”
“Every certain trait I hate about people stems from the average personality of Zionists”; “I do not refer to Zionists as human beings. They are of primitive standards, comparable to the Neanderthal”; and, “They steal your whole country, that’s a Zionist.”
“Israel,” he says, “gets tons of money, weapons, and news coverage because who runs all the major businesses? The yahood [Jews]”; and, “The person who created the SATs was definitely yahoodi [Jews].”
This is only the tip of the iceberg of what Canary Mission has preserved from his tweets, many of which have been subsequently deleted.

Dear Dr. Monaco;
It is with great dismay and frustration that I write to you today concerning the student at Tuft’s School of Dental Medicine who — as you have been made aware — repeatedly threatened violence toward Jewish students.
A review of his social posts makes it apparent that this is not a single occurrence by a person unaware of what he was saying. He is a repeat offender interested in targeting Jews for their religious, ethnic, and Zionist identities.
Yet as of today, Tufts University has remained conspicuously silent at a time when what is needed most is a clear voice of moral clarity. Tufts would not — and should not — remain silent in the case of a student who repeatedly called for the lynching of Black peoples. Nor would Tufts remain idle if a student were to incite violence against the LGBTQ+ community.
Tufts’ silence against hostility toward Jews amounts to consent. It is clearly inconsistent with its stated mission of creating “and maintaining a climate that recognizes differences and commonalities, while understanding, and …nurturing acceptance of diverse ideological viewpoints, socio-economic status, racial/ethnic makeup, religious beliefs, sexual orientation and equity.”
Dr. Monaco, hypocrisy is deception.
Tufts is fostering a hostile environment at a time, as you surely know, that American Jews are facing the highest rates of antisemitism in decades — which include vandalism, intimidation, destruction of property, and even murder.
How can Tufts be unconcerned about the serious damage that this aspiring dentist might cause to Jewish patients? The University will bear responsibility to future patients put in harm’s way. You are surely familiar with the dismissal of a resident at the Cleveland Clinic for threatening to give Jews “the wrong meds.” You might know that for Jews, this hateful dental student is eerily reminiscent of another “doctor” — Josef Mengele, the SS officer and physician who performed medical experiments on Jews in the Auschwitz concentration camp. Tufts must immediately remove this student. The harm this situation causes the Jewish community, and within your institution, impacts every level of stakeholder — undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, administrators, and trustees.
Beyond this immediate case, Tufts must also work to prevent future such incidents, by addressing the institutional bias against and insensitivity toward Jewish students.
Your inaction in this matter will only encourage similar acts in the future. Immediate and decisive action from you, Dr. Monaco, as the leader of this fine University is clearly required.
Dr. Monaco, may you live up to Tuft’s motto, Pax et Lux — Peace and Light — by ensuring that Jews remain unharmed. May the light that you shine on this issue serve as a much needed disinfectant against hate.
