Robert Lappin, rock of Zionism in Massachusetts, dies at 98

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Bob Lappin, an extraordinarily generous philanthropist, whose love for the Jewish people and Israel continuously prompted him to give more and more of his heart, wisdom, and cash to sustain us all. Bob Lappin was a rock of his community on Boston’s North Shore, where his programs for Jewish youth embedded in so many a life-long commitment to Jewish peoplehood and Zionism.

Bob’s most passionate cause, in his later years, was to convince those who run Birthright, a program that so successfully brought college-aged students to Israel where they had life-altering experiences, to extend it to high school students. Bob was passionate about this because he knew all about the poisons against Israel that were surging in public and even private high school curricula, and how effective these are in turning the young against the Jewish state, and its Jewish supporters.

Bob Lappin was a pro-Jewish activist extraordinaire. He was 98. May his memory be a blessing.
