Guantanamo Bay State

On January 19, 2010, a team of Americans for Peace and Tolerance activists blocked a plan to have a Guantanamo jihadist detainee settle in Newton, MA.
We are all in debt to the dozens of activists who braved a freezing rainy night to come out to city hall and face down clueless Newton aldermen who proposed to have as our neighbor a man who belonged to “the charity wing” of Lashkar-e-Taibah – the organization that committed mass murder in Mumbai.

Below are links to news coverage of the controversy and and protest.

This story is about people-power and grassroots democracy in action.
Stay tuned as we are pressing the offending aldermen to apologize and undergo sensitivity training or face a campaign to recall them.
